Family Vacation!!!!
The last time Mr. Fergal Stanley an Irishman visited us, he stayed for one week and did his advanced open water diver course.  This time he stayed for almost a month with his family.  He and his eldest son did Nitrox, drift and night dive specialty. The picture showed how happy and how proud he is when his younger son Andrew Stanley certified as an open water diver by our Instructor Leo Castillo.

A friend…. to a friend.... to a friend
One of regular guests and a friend Mr. Jojo Pastor recommended us to Elmer Galang who did some fun dives with us then recommend us to Mark Lewis who did his open water course with us first week of July.  Then come back a week after to do an advanced open water diver course, this time with one of his friends Alan M. Knox who did an open water course and has a plan to come back to do his advanced open water course and again with his friends.  Thanks for the convincing power of our Instructor Leo Castillo.

July!!! Rainy season?
We all know that month of July is rainy season, and most of the divers don’t want to leave their home, NOT with Fiona and Craig Matthew.  They spent their one-month vacation with us, did a lot of fun dives and at the end, they took the Nitrox specialty course and Rescue diver course with Instructor Teodoro Castillo.

First week of July One of our Divemasters Larry spotted a blue ringed octopus and a plum buoyant cuttlefish around Big La Laguna bay while doing a recreational diving with group of divers from Hong Kong .

Rags II
After six months in the building and a lot of sleepless nights for Frank Doyle and Boyet Magsino, the designers of the boat the Rags set sail on here maiden voyage on July 17. Destination Maestro De Campo and Boracay,

On board was Frank, Donno, Mick Stefurak, Demon Stewart, the owners, Bob Campbell, Rob Clark, Asia Divers Allan Nash, the famous Tony Hookway, Fergal Stanley and Stewart Naylor.

Day 1 the sea conditions where like glass as we cruised at 12 knots towards Maestro De Campo after a fantastic dive on the Verde Is Drop Off. Anchor was dropped at sunset as we all sat down for dinner, spaghetti bolognaise and a few bottles of good red wine.

Day 2  Frank and Hooky where up early and tied off the Mactan Ferry where an early morning dive was made before breakfast. After the second dive there we set sail for Boracay arriving late afternoon with the weather closing in as a tropical depression was in the area. Those that went ashore for dinner got very wet as the rain came down all night.

Day 3 still raining hard and the weather not getting any better we dived the recently sunk freighter wreck on the west side of Boracay Is and headed for home. Conditions and the seas got worse so we decided to anchor over night in the safe harbor at Maestro De Campo. Another great meal was served up by Sammy the cook and plenty of wine, beer, Jack Daniels and Makers Mark was consumed.

Day 4 anchor was pulled at 5:30 am and we arrive home in Puerto Galera at 10:30.

All in all a great trip, which really tested out the new boat, everyone was very happy with.

Thanks the crew Captain Bert Ambong, Engineer Boyet “Bugsy” Magsino, Cook Sammy and Victor deck hand.

The new 30m vessel is now ready for day trips to Verde Is and available for charters to Apo Reef, Coron, and Maestro De Campo but is cable of making adventure trips to new destinations in the Philippines , which is the future plan.

The boat accommodates 8 divers in very comfortable twin berth air-conditioned cabins. These cabins could be considered deluxe when it comes to liveaboard.

The spacious salon and dive area make this boat a pleasure to be on. Web site www.dive-safari.com

Beach Club
Super Typhoon CALOY (Chanchu/02W)

Max Sustained Winds: 250 kph (135 kts)

This little beauty ripped thru Puerto Galera and really caused some damage to a lot of the resorts in the area. The Beach Club was not spared at all!!!!

After just replacing the nipa roof of the restaurant and geckos bar, Caloy hit us with its full force and ripped most of the new roof off above the gecko bar. Lots of banana and coconut trees in the area did not survive. A few of the staff who live in the village behind the resort also lost homes, in particular, May, Cita, Christy & Vick, Melanie and also Alex the guard. Luckily nobody was really injured and no deaths reported.

As of now everything has been fixed and we are back in full operation waiting for all you guests and divers to come down.

Others happenings around the place….

Daisy and Maricar two of our waitress’s both pregnant and both leaving, we wish them all the best and look forward to meeting their newborn. And having them back at work in the near future.

Juliet from the office recently gave birth to a baby girl…Abigail, there second child, congratulations Jules and Butchoy.

We have taken down the cottages beside the pool and will be moving the dive shop and classrooms there and will also build some new accommodation rooms above them. Weather permitting will not be to long.

Don’t forget happy hour everyday up in Gecko bar from 5-7pm…. cocktails, spirits and beer half price.

Hope to see all of our friends here soon.
